2010

Charlie Strong

Charlie Strong

Florida

Nomination(s): 2009

For the second year in a row, Strong comes to Little Rock seeking the Broyles Award. And for the second year in a row, his credentials are impeccable. Strong's Gators wrapped up an undefeated regular season tops in total defense, scoring defense and pass defense. In fact, Florida's worst statistical area is rush defense, where the Gators 'only' rank eighth in the nation.

Strong has coached for 25 years, getting his start as a graduate assistant at Florida after wrapping up a playing career at Central Arkansas. Since then, the Batesville, Arkansas native has coached defenses all over the country, including at Ole Miss, Notre Dame and South Carolina. He was a Broyles Award finalist in 2000 at South Carolina and is only the second 3 time finalist in the history of the Broyles Award.
